The Zoo
A Wearable Instrument

I recorded a series of microagressions that I have heard told to me or other women of color. I turned those recordings into a song, and created a wearable instrument that I could then perform.

I am dancing because if a woman of color did anything else while her body was attacked with unsolicited judgment, she would be considered angry.

Black overalls were used to create this suit. The pocket in the front was used to hold the micro-controller and feed wires to the rest of the suit. Mesh covers the suit where touch sensors have been added.
